Hollister Hills Group Camp Area Gets an Update
Story from: Peter Jones, San Andreas District
Twenty members of the Mountain Transit Authority (MTA) worked with park staff on March 4 to upgrade the BBQ pit which had become unusable and some of the ramadas in our group camp area. MTA is a four-wheel drive club out of San Jose that for more than 40 years has hosted an annual event called Mud-N-Yer Eye, at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area.
MTA members have done many projects at the state vehicular recreation area over the years and continue to help us to make the park more enjoyable for our users by volunteering their time. This year, the club repaired the group BBQ by fabricating new grates and supports, fabricating a new cover, as well as adding a new pulley system to raise and lower the giant grill. The new and improved BBQ will be an asset to this area and will add to the enjoyment for thousands of people.
MTA also covered seven of the ramadas in the area to offer more shade and rain protection for visitors. This work day project was made possible by a donation from another group, Syncrofest who also holds an annual event in the group camp area. Syncrofest donated funds to our park's Cooperating Association to be used for improvements to the group camp area. MTA who built the original BBQ many years ago, offered to come in and give it a face lift as several members of their club are metal fabricators.
This project is a perfect example of what can be accomplished through partnerships and a shared vision of making improvements which will benefit everyone. The staff at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area would like to thank Syncrofest and MTA for all of their hard work.

Below are some picture of the Snake Pit bathroom rework done by MTA, Four Play and few of our other Friends
Special thanks to Spncer, Sean, Justin, Carl and Joel as our contractors
In February MTA went down for a Frolic Prerun and work party. We had a really good turn out from the club even thou it was a really cold weekend.
Also the park asked us to install a new air compressor and build a enclosure for the unit in Area 5 near the bathrooms. See the pictures below:
